YOUNG ADULTS IN PRISON OR JAIL

WLT is dedicated to identifying and reconnecting disadvantaged young people who are young parents, young adults experiencing homelessness, not in education or employment, and young adults in prison or jail through programs that help them discover meaning, develop purpose, build a clear future for their lives, live fulfilled lives, and make an impact in the community.

In the United States, “approximately 0.6% of young adults ages 18 to 24 were in prison or jail at a point in time, or roughly 1 in 170 young adults.”

“D.C. younger supervisees: people age 25 or younger constituted 16% of CSOSA’s supervised population, approximately 1,150 individuals, but no exact proportion of all D.C. residents ages 18–24 is published”(csosa.gov)
